Introduction
Capship Academy is the name of a children's nature experience program launched in 2023 with the mission of "improving children's futures, even if only a little." Today's children are spending less and less time interacting with nature. With the rise in dual-income households, more children are attending after-school care every day, even during long holidays like summer vacation. Extreme summer heat makes it difficult to play outside freely, and more than half of a class begins attending cram schools in the early grades of elementary school in preparation for junior high school entrance exams. We are deeply aware that changes in children's environments are reducing opportunities to foster their innate creativity and curiosity (so-called non-cognitive abilities). Most of us at Campship Academy vividly recall formative childhood experiences—playing to our heart's content in nature, sitting around a fire with friends, and fighting over bunk beds. We even go so far as to say that these formative experiences have played a key role in shaping our personalities. I (Founder: Akagi Tsutomu) have linked the current social context with my own formative experiences, thought about what is needed now for the future of children, and developed a strong desire to deliver nature experience programs. I would like to deliver to the world the values of providing a safe and secure environment where children can enjoy themselves to the fullest, an opportunity to develop independence and self-confidence through living together with children of different ages, and fostering a sense of self-affirmation through challenging all sorts of things. In addition to the children who participate, the programs we create require leaders who will participate with them. We are looking for people who share our philosophy and want to join us in building Campship Academy. Representative Director Akagi Tsutomu
Who are the leaders of Campship Academy?
Campship Academy leaders are members who participate in the program and support the children.
Leaders from a wide range of age groups, from high school students to working adults, support Campship Academy.
Leaders are not just the staff (backstage workers) needed to carry out a program.
Leaders are essential to creating a program and play a central role. We believe that it is extremely important that leaders not only support children so that they can enjoy the activities, but also create safe and fun activities together with the children, and above all, enjoy themselves.
This is something we often talk about in leadership training.
"The leader is not a parent, teacher, or sibling; he is a fellow participant in the program, a supporter who accompanies the children as they grow."
Having held this program many times in the past, one thing we can say in common is that the more the leaders truly enjoy the program, the higher the overall satisfaction and the better the results.
In addition to the important role of caring for children's lives, running an overnight program is not easy, but the few days spent working together to create it is an unforgettable experience for the leaders as well.
Let's create a Campship Academy program together!
💡For those considering participating as working leaders
At Campship Academy, we believe that living with older brother or sister leaders (student leaders) who are relatively close in age to the children is an important factor in fostering independence and self-esteem in children.
Therefore, the main actors in the program are the children and student leaders, and the adult leaders and management staff are positioned to support their activities.
Of course, there are plenty of opportunities for the adult leaders to have fun with the children, playing tag together, lighting a bonfire, and skiing together.
We ask that you understand that in order to ensure a safe and secure program, we may ask you to take on necessary behind-the-scenes roles (preparing the campfire, arriving at the activity location ahead of time, checking equipment, etc.) before considering participating.
The lively smiles of the children and the extraordinary experience of spending time in nature away from everyday life will be a valuable formative experience for those who participate as working leaders.
