The Concept of This Program

Campship Academy and Coleman have teamed up to host a full-scale camping program in the autumnal Yatsugatake mountains! Coleman will provide all the camping gear you need, including tents, mats, sleeping bags, cooking utensils, lights, and Dutch ovens, so you won't need to bring any gear! The camp will be held on the grounds of Yatsugatake Agricultural College, so safety is guaranteed. This is a packed, full-scale camping program for 3 days and 2 nights, where you can experience both camping and farm stay.

Key Features

Even first-time sleepovers are stress-free. Empowering children to say, "I did it!"

We provide a variety of thoughtful support measures to ensure that first-time participants feel safe and confident. We design engaging activities that outweigh any anxiety about being away from home, maintain a strong focus on safety through well-trained staff, and place great importance on recognizing and praising each child’s efforts and challenges.

Authentic camping experience: pitching a tent from scratch

Children will set up tents from scratch and go camping. Using a manual created for children, they will work with their peers to pitch tents, fostering cooperation. Through the camping process, they will experience collaboration with their peers and a sense of accomplishment.

Interact with cows and chickens on a farm

This workshop offers hands-on experiences such as interacting with animals, observing their behavior, and touring dairy barns and chicken coops, providing insight into how everyday foods like milk and eggs are produced on farms. Participants also use freshly harvested milk and eggs from the farm to prepare their own meals, completing the full farm-to-table experience.

Program design that respects and allows children to choose what they "want to do"

Everyone enjoys nature in their own way. Many children who join our camps lead busy, time-structured lives in their daily routines. At Campship Academy, we go beyond simply following a fixed schedule—we value giving children the freedom to step away from time constraints and dive deeper into their interests, whether it’s plants, insects, fire, the sky, or food, nurturing their curiosity through exploration.

Living together with people of different ages fosters cooperativeness and independence.

Participants come from a wide range of age groups. At first, older children may see younger ones as immature, while younger children may find older ones intimidating. However, through living together in Campship’s culture—where “everyone is equal” and “taking leadership is valued”—these perspectives gradually change. Children begin to recognize their own roles within the group and develop respect for others who are different from themselves. These changes are what truly foster growth.

Authentic Dutch Oven Camping Meals

One of the great pleasures of camping is cooking. Each group will use a Dutch oven to make takikomi gohan (mixed rice). The groups will work together to build a fire, decide on ingredients, and season their dishes to achieve their ideal flavor.
