The Concept of This Program

Based in Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture, a region rich in nature, this program offers a condensed experience of summer activities, including fruit picking, authentic tent camping, and river play in a gorge.

We are excited to bring you an upgraded version of our popular 2025 program.

Our concept is to foster children's interest in agriculture and food through "primary experiences," such as connecting with farmers who carefully cultivate their fruits and cooking for themselves during authentic camping.

In collaboration with Shinshu Azumino Friend Farm, participants will experience harvesting peaches and corn. By tasting freshly picked produce, even children who previously disliked peaches or corn may come to enjoy them.

Experience authentic tent camping at Susado Campsite, located on the banks of the Karasugawa Gorge. The campsite is situated within the grounds of a large accommodation facility, ensuring safety, and participants can enjoy natural hot springs at night. We provide thorough guidance for beginners, making it perfect for a "summer vacation challenge."

Enjoy river play at Karasugawa Gorge, a popular spot, experiencing the coolness of the meltwater from the Northern Alps.

Key Features

Harvest fruit and eat it on the spot as an educational food experience.

Before harvest, each peach is carefully covered with a paper bag. Learning how much time and effort farmers invest in growing delicious fruit is an important experience. Freshly picked corn can be eaten raw and has a surprisingly sweet taste. Seeing, harvesting with their own hands, and tasting it firsthand provides a valuable food education experience.

River activities in mountain streams fed by water from the Northern Alps

At Karasugawa Valley, a popular river play spot, children can enjoy playing in the cool, refreshing waters fed by snowmelt from the Northern Alps. Activities are conducted with thorough safety measures, including trained staff supervision and mandatory use of life jackets to ensure a safe and secure experience.

Authentic camping experience: pitching a tent from scratch

Children will set up tents from scratch and go camping. Using a manual created for children, they will work with their peers to pitch tents, fostering cooperation. Through the camping process, they will experience collaboration with their peers and a sense of accomplishment.

Authentic Dutch Oven Camping Meals

One of the great pleasures of camping is cooking. Each group will use a Dutch oven to make takikomi gohan (mixed rice). The groups will work together to build a fire, decide on ingredients, and season their dishes to achieve their ideal flavor.

Play at Alps Azumino National Government Park

Alps Azumino Park, within walking distance of the campsite, offers many play areas to spark children's curiosity, such as a marshmallow dome where they can jump freely, an athletic course, flower gardens, and a water play area. It's a luxury to be able to play in the vast park, following their interests without worrying about the time.
