The Concept of This Program

This is a signature summer program that has been running since the establishment of Camp Ship Academy, where children can refine their artistic sensibilities and engage in sports activities on the Nasu Kashi Plateau, which is over 1,000m above sea level. A key feature is that the program is designed to allow even preschoolers to participate with peace of mind.

Highlights include art workshops led by professional artist Motoko Miki from "Atelier mado," centered at the National Nasu Kashi Youth Center, and full-fledged sports days on a 400m track.

The art workshops, which involve using all five senses in the great outdoors, are a flagship content of summer Camp Ship. We are always amazed by the creativity children display in this open environment.

In addition to a wealth of activities, the accommodation used for this program primarily consists of large rooms, where cooperation is essential for communal living. We also prioritize fostering cooperation and independence through communal living among children of different ages.

Over these four days, children will develop their sensibilities through art and engage their bodies through sports, sharing both joys and sorrows with their peers, empathizing with each other, and growing as individuals.

Key Features

Hone your senses and experience authentic art in a forest of great natural beauty.

A full-scale workshop by instructors from Atelier Mado, who value experiencing true beauty with all five senses.

Team up and cooperate! Camp Ship Cup

Campship Academy’s original sports day brings together children and leaders in mixed teams. In addition to familiar sports, participants compete in team-based challenges through wide games and group activities. With mixed-age team compositions that focus less on winning or losing, the program helps children develop cooperation and teamwork skills.

Living together with people of different ages fosters cooperativeness and independence.

Participants come from a wide range of age groups. At first, older children may see younger ones as immature, while younger children may find older ones intimidating. However, through living together in Campship’s culture—where “everyone is equal” and “taking leadership is valued”—these perspectives gradually change. Children begin to recognize their own roles within the group and develop respect for others who are different from themselves. These changes are what truly foster growth.

Program design that respects and allows children to choose what they "want to do"

Everyone enjoys nature in their own way. Many children who join our camps lead busy, time-structured lives in their daily routines. At Campship Academy, we go beyond simply following a fixed schedule—we value giving children the freedom to step away from time constraints and dive deeper into their interests, whether it’s plants, insects, fire, the sky, or food, nurturing their curiosity through exploration.
