The Concept of This Program

It's the annual 2-night, 3-day summer camp at Yatsugatake, a tradition at Campship Academy. Children from preschool age can participate, and the activities are designed for enjoyment across a wide age range.

From summer camp staples like outdoor cooking and campfires to activities unique to Yatsugatake's vast grounds, such as a super-long athletic course and water gun battles, there's a packed schedule of events.

Yatsugatake Kiyosato Highlands is relatively close to Tokyo, about a 2-hour drive, yet its altitude of approximately 1,200m offers a pleasant climate. Children can play to their hearts' content on a vast site about 10 times the size of Tokyo Dome.

On the last day, there will be an insect hunt at the Omurasaki Center. If you're lucky, you might even catch a beetle that has just hatched from its pupa. For children who are not fond of insects, there is also the option of plant observation.

This program aims to foster children's curiosity and promote personal growth, such as cooperation and independence, which cannot be learned at school, through a lifestyle characteristic of Campship Academy that respects space and freedom, and through communal living with different age groups.

Key Features

Three days packed with extraordinary experiences

This camp is perfect for those who want to experience—or provide—a truly “summer-like” adventure, packing three days full of activities that are hard to enjoy in everyday life, such as athletics, outdoor cooking, campfires, roasted marshmallows, water gun play, and crafts. In addition to planned activities, children will also explore their curiosity through free play like searching for insects, observing plants, and gathering around the fire.

Living together with people of different ages fosters cooperativeness and independence.

Participants come from a wide range of age groups. At first, older children may see younger ones as immature, while younger children may find older ones intimidating. However, through living together in Campship’s culture—where “everyone is equal” and “taking leadership is valued”—these perspectives gradually change. Children begin to recognize their own roles within the group and develop respect for others who are different from themselves. These changes are what truly foster growth.

Program design that respects and allows children to choose what they "want to do"

Everyone enjoys nature in their own way. Many children who join our camps lead busy, time-structured lives in their daily routines. At Campship Academy, we go beyond simply following a fixed schedule—we value giving children the freedom to step away from time constraints and dive deeper into their interests, whether it’s plants, insects, fire, the sky, or food, nurturing their curiosity through exploration.

Exercise to your heart's content in the great outdoors.

With a comfortable climate that stays below 30°C even during the day, children can fully immerse themselves in nature—feeling its scents and sounds while moving their bodies freely. Looking up at the sky, the clouds seem closer than usual, and the only sounds are insects and birds. Free from structured activities or special equipment, this environment—far from the noise of the city—offers the true luxury of simply playing to the fullest.
