Why did you decide to include your child in an overnight nature experience?
I wanted them to be able to think for themselves about what they need for the program they are participating in and to be able to handle everything from preparation to cleanup consistently.
When traveling as a family, there are limitations on the location, duration, and experiences that can be chosen depending on the parents' schedules, and being able to go on a trip with just the children is a strong attraction for working parents.
I myself have fond memories of attending overnight camps as a child, so I wanted my children to have a similar experience.
During the long school holidays, there are very few opportunities for children to interact with their friends, and there are no opportunities to make friends outside of school, so I wanted my children to have a place where they could interact with others across grade levels, so I wanted them to participate.
Why did you choose Campship Academy?
What was appealing about the program was that it was comprehensive and the schedule was designed to allow for a comfortable yet thorough experience.
Also, many of the leaders were students, so I thought there would be a lot to share in a similar way to older brothers and sisters. The content and pricing were also a deciding factor.
What kind of conversation did you have with your child when they first joined?
It was my first time skiing and I was nervous because I didn't have any friends with me.
We told them that they would be able to learn skiing, make new friends, and that leaders are people to rely on.
My daughter was worried about it for a few days before the event, but in the end, she had a strong desire to learn how to ski, so she decided to participate of her own volition.
How did your child do after the program ended?
They looked anxious when they left, but when they got off the bus at the end, their smiles showed they had accomplished something and were satisfied. They only had fun talking, saying things like, "I can ski now!" and "I want to go again! (Next time, please bring a friend)."
My daughter also expressed her intention to participate, saying, "I'll go to ski camp again next year, and I'd like to go to summer camp next time too! "
