Why did you decide to include your child in an overnight nature experience?
In everyday life, there are many situations where parents end up helping their children.
We decided to have them participate because we wanted them to experience living in an environment where there are no adults nearby that they can rely on, and to get a real sense of what it means to do things on their own and what happens when they are unable to do so.
I also hoped that they would realize how grateful they should be for the things that other people do for them on a daily basis.
Why did you choose Campship Academy?
I was attracted to the fact that it was not just a place to stay, but also helped me improve my skiing skills.
Also, the children listen more carefully to what the campship leaders have to say than to what their parents say, so in that sense too, I feel that it is a valuable learning opportunity.
The final deciding factor was that I felt I would be able to develop both my technical and mental skills in a balanced way.
What kind of conversation did you have with your child when they first joined?
To be honest, we parents were the ones who were worried at first.
I was worried, wondering, "Will it be okay? Will he have fun?" but when I told my child, "Your friends can come with you!" he readily accepted, saying, "Yes, I'll go!", which surprised me to no end.
In the end, our worries proved unfounded and we were able to send them off with peace of mind.
How did your child do after the program ended?
Since they came back, all I've heard is, "It was so much fun!" (laughs).
In reality, I'm sure there were some difficult times and many challenges as they lived on their own, but I think they were able to overcome them in a positive way because the fun they had outweighed those challenges.
As a parent, I could see their growth and I'm glad I let them participate.
Please tell us if there are any aspects of Campship Academy that you feel are uniquely good.
The leaders are all very powerful and I feel reassured by their attitude of giving their all to the children.
The environment is perfect for children to explore freely in nature, and we trust it as a place where they can be trusted.
If I were to recommend it to a friend, I would tell them, "It's not just a program, it's a place that helps children develop the ability to think and act independently."
