Concept

Experience Japan's history at Ise Grand Shrine, explore Tōshijima, the largest island in Mie Prefecture, and discover the sea life of Toba on this special three-day trip with your friends. Just about three hours from Tokyo, Mie Prefecture is blessed with the natural beauty of both the sea and the mountains, and is full of famous sites where you can learn about Japan's history and culture. Tradition, nature and delicious local food all come together in one journey.

The highlight of the trip is Ise Jingu (Ise Grand Shrine), one of the most important shrines in Japan. With a history of about 2,000 years, it is a sacred place where Japan's spirituality, culture and nature meet, and many Japanese people hope to visit it at least once in their lifetime.

On Tōshijima, students explore an island where historical sites from the Warring States period and a traditional fishing-village way of life still remain today, while enjoying breathtaking views of the sea.

In Toba, students choose how to meet the ocean: Toba Aquarium or Dolphin Island. Toba Aquarium keeps more species than any other aquarium in Japan and is the only place in the country where you can see a dugong. A 15-minute boat ride away, Dolphin Island is a place to learn about the marine ecosystem, watch dolphin and sea lion shows, try feeding the dolphins and take in the views of Toba Bay.

Recomended Points

Ise Shrine

One of Japan's most revered Shinto shrines, established 2,000 years ago. Ise Shrine is known as "the birth place of Japan and its people". Experience Japanese culture at Ise Grand Shrine, considered a spiritual home.

Meet Japan's Only Dugong at Toba Aquarium

Toba Aquarium keeps around 1,200 species of sea creatures, the most in Japan, and it is the only place in Japan where you can meet a dugong.

*Day 1 is a choice between Toba Aquarium and Dolphin Island.

Dolphin Island

As is from the island name, this is a place where dolphins live. There are dolphin shows and there is also a chance to feed them! Other than dolphins, there are also sea lions and otters at this island. Since this island is in the middle of Toba Bay, you can also enjoy the impressive view from the observation deck too!

*This is one of the destinations for the choice-based activities

Toshijima Island

An island with spectacular views of Toba Bay and the atmosphere of a fishing town. Experience the nature, history and culture of Mie's largest island, by e-bike (electric-assist bicycle) or on foot.

Three Hot Springs at Toba Seaside Hotel

Toba Seaside Hotel has three different hot spring baths, so you can try a different one every night while looking out over the sea.
